Bill Duke crafted an absolute neo-noir gem here. Laurence Fishburne plays an undercover cop slowly losing himself in the drug trade's moral quicksand, while Jeff Goldblum delivers a deliciously sleazy performance as his lawyer contact. It’s gritty, stylish, and unapologetically dark, exploring themes of identity, systemic corruption, and the cost of trying to do good in a bad world. This one holds up incredibly well, a true underrated thriller.
