And then there was "Automan," another one of those bold, technologically-driven shows from the early 80s. A police officer creates a holographic crime fighter who can materialize a car out of thin air and drive at impossible angles. It was pure visual spectacle for the era. The glowing lines, the digital effects, it was all very new and exciting. The stories were simple, good guys catching bad guys, but it was the *how* they did it that kept you watching. Pure escapism, built on the promise of future tech.
